How to extend the life of your dishwasher by cleaning like a pro. (no harmful chemicals)
Have you ever opened up your dishwasher only to be greeted with a not-so-pleasant smell? Then it’s time for the clean.
Dishwasher lines can become clogged with food particles, grease, lime or calcium the same way that arteries can become clogged with cholesterol. The build-up makes the lines narrower and narrower until they clog completely. These problems make the machine wok worse and can shorten the life of you dishwasher!
Below are few easy tips that can help us to retain the life-span of our dishwasher.
Step 1 Clean out the drain
Remove the bottom rack of the dishwasher and examine the drain area. You may find a lot of greasy build up, you may want to wear cleaning gloves. Clean out any food scraps, bones, or shards.

Step 2 Vinegar Cycle
Place a dishwasher-safe cup filled with plain white vinegar on the top rack of your dishwasher. The vinegar will help to wash away the loose, greasy grime, sanitize, and help remove the musty odour. Make sure that the vinegar is white vinegar, brown vinegar can stain and it can be hard to remove the strong smell
Run the dishwasher through a cycle using the hottest setting. The dishwasher should be empty except for the cup of vinegar.

Step 3 Baking soda cycle
Once the vinegar cycle finishes, generously sprinkle a handful of baking soda around the bottom of the dishwasher and run it through a short cycle using the hottest water.
The baking soda will help further deodorize and remove leftover stains

Done!! Time for a cuppa
Your dishwasher should now be squeaky clean and running like new! You wouldn’t take a bath in a dirty bathtub, so why would you wash your dishes in a dirty dishwasher? You should clean your dishwasher once a month to make sure it’s running at its best. According to leading consumer researcher Choice.com.au we should expect the dishwasher to last an average of 10 years.
